Gail has enjoyed living on the Peninsula near the San Francisco Bay shoreline her entire life, developing a passion early on for the Bay’s habitats and wildlife. She joined Friends of Redwood City in the 1980’s when Ralph and Carolyn Nobles led a local referendum to protect Bair Island, and later became active with Citizens Committee after she retired. Gail has been on the Board since 2012 and has served as Co-Chair since 2016.
Gail earned a BA and MA in Ecology and Systematics at San Francisco State University, and began her career with San Mateo County in 1980. She served as the County’s Agricultural Commissioner/Sealer of Weights and Measures for 17 years, overseeing a variety of environmental and consumer protection programs, and working with federal, state, and local agencies and industry groups on issues impacting agriculture and natural resources.
