A San Francisco native, with a BA in Biology from U.C. Santa Cruz and MS from San Francisco State University, Matt is a former Professor of Biology and Horticulture at the College of San Mateo. He enjoys birding and has documented waterbird use at the Redwood City salt ponds for over twelve years.
Matt became active in Bay protection in 1982, working with the Friends of Redwood City to save Bair Island from development. In 2019, he became a member of the CCCR Board.
